Talking loudly does not make you understood, it just makes you loud. Many people have a bad habit of almost screaming when asked to repeat themselves. You may just need to polish up your Italian skills. Those you are speaking to are probably not hard of hearing. You may have mispronounced the word or maybe you just used the wrong choice of words. So don’t shout at them, they may be able to hear just fine.

There is one thing you will notice when you spend time in Italy, and that is Italians dress to impress. They may just be taking their ritual evening walk or stepping out to the opera. Italians want to look good. So when you go to Italy and are visiting the churches and the museums, you may want to leave the shorts and sandals at the hotel. It will improve your confidence among all those well-dressed Italians, which can help you improve your Italian.

There will be times that no matter how well you say something in Italian, sometimes it will be difficult for even a linguist to interpret. It could be what you are say and not how you are saying it that is the problem. The cultural differences become increasingly apparent when speaking a foreign language. If you are sure that what you are saying is grammatical correct and you are still receiving blank stares, you might try a different approach.

Even though you might want to email Dante Alighieri to ask him questions about Italian grammar and usage, you are unable to because he is no longer living. Even if he were still alive chances are he would be tied up in writing his new book, or a screenplay for one of the books he has already written, such as the La Divina Commedia.

However, there are more practical solutions to your dilemma. The national language academy of Italy can be accessed through the Internet and they can offer help to those wanting to master the Italian language. There is also the oldest language academy in Europe, the Accademia della Crusca who also can be accessed through the Internet. A Semester In Milan To Learn Italian, Art And Design

The Italian language School for foreigners Leonardo da Vinci suggests new and interesting ways to learn the language, by offering courses which fulfill all young foreign students’ needs.

One of these is “Italian Plus Art and Design Semester Courses”, the course focused on art, graphic design and fashion, organized by the school of Milan in collaboration with NABA – “Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano” (New Academy of Fine Arts Milan).

The course offers to all the students who decided to study art, the opportunity to attend the lessons at Accademia delle Belle Arti for a whole semester, with the chance to freely choose their kind of studies according to their own ambitions, among ‘Visual Arts’ (painting, sculpture, photography..), ‘Fashion Design’, ‘Graphic Design & Art Direction’.

To attend the course “Italian Plus Art and Design Semester Courses” is necessary that students already have a good knowledge level of Italian language, so that the school suggests the guys to attend some intensive Italian courses which last 4 or more weeks, and during the semester they will have the chance to improve their knowledge attending one of the extensive courses in groups of the School Leonardo da Vinci.

The programme of the course Art and Design counts 144 lessons subdivided into 12 weeks. The lessons usually take place in the afternoon, to give the students who have to improve their Italian, the chance to attend in the meantime the courses of Italian language.

The next course of “Italian Plus Art and Design Semester Course” will start on April 20th.

How To Learn Italian Quickly

“I’m terrible at learning other languages. I’m lucky to be able to speak my own.” How many times have you heard that? You may even have said it yourself. But for some reason, you’ve come to a point in your life when you need to figure out how to learn Italian. Business? Travel? Friendship or romance? It doesn’t matter – you’ve got all the tools you need to learn conversational Italian, and they’re positioned on either side of your head. That’s right – your ears.

Amazingly, research shows that listening is pretty much all you have to do. Children learn from listening to their parents. In the beginning we listen as babies to the sound our parents make when they speak their home tongue; we don’t understand the individual words, but we sort out the sounds that belong to our language from all other possible vocal sounds. Eventually we begin to attach meaning to certain sounds we hear; your Mother may ask “Where is your nose?” and we touch our noses. Finally we begin to try making some of those sounds ourselves. If our Father or Mother understands our speaking attempts, they will respond joyfully and will reward us verbally. If they do not understand our speaking attempts they will show it in their body language meaning we need to try again until they do. This is exactly how to learn Italian too!

But suppose you don’t have Italian parents, or even a neighborhood Nonni. It’s not too late. If there is a nearby school, university, or community center that offers Italian classes, consider taking advantage of the opportunity. But if there’s not, or classes don’t fit into your schedule, choose a good audio-based language program to learn Italian. Make sure it’s audio-based; you will never get a authentic Italian accent out of any text book learning. It is a good idea to learn Dostoyevsky by reading it, however when it comes to learn the Italian language then it is not such a good idea!

When you’ve learned some basic Italian words and phrases and got use to the sound of the language, then you must do everything you can to hear Italian spoken by authentic speakers and speak it yourself whenever you can. Try to watch as many Italian DVDs as you can with subtitles in the beginning and then without. Go to see an Italian opera, and try to understand what they’re singing about. Visit your closes Italian restaurant and find out if anyone there spoke Italian; they probably do, and would be happy to chat in their native tongue. If your community has a civic association or an Italian-American club, make new friends. They will be more than delighted to teach you how to learn Italian.

Italian is a dynamic, living language, the language of Dante just as much as it is the language of the Godfather. Learning it will give you a window on not only a beautiful country (which you may sometime want to visit), but on a wonderful culture made up of vibrant people. As you discover how to learn Italian, you’ll find you’ve opened the door to a whole new world.
