Admin Carmel Valley Middle School students donate bikes for Ghana
Emmanuel Ofusu Yeboah sits among donated bikes. In 2002, Emmanuel Ofusu Yeboah rode a bicycle 380 miles across his home country of Ghana on one leg. The trip took him 10 days. Yeboah’s ride was to bring awareness for people with disabilities, who, in his country, are thought of as less than worthy. In the following open letter to the Cornell Community, Dr. Jean William “Bill” Pape, director of the GHESKIO Clinic in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, encourages members of the Cornell community to keep Haiti and its plight in the public consciousness and donate what they can, but to refrain from traveling there, despite excellent intentions.
